Inger DeCoursey was born in Camrose, Alberta and resides in Saskatoon. Inger completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta in 1956 and taught for several years in Alberta. In 1982, Inger completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the
University of Saskatchewan. Inger often depicts scenes from around Saskatoon. Inger says of her paintings en plein air, “As I move my easel around our city I feel a part of the total community.”
Inger draws from a Robert Browning passage to
define the theme surrounding her paintings, “First when we see them painted, things we have passed perhaps a hundred times nor cared to see; and so they are better, painted—better to us...Art was given for that.”
